winners!

One of the most successful junior chess tournaments
took place at Damnoni, Rethimnon, in December 4th. The tournament
which was organised by Rethimnon Chess Club and Municipality
of Foinika included both team and individual matches for young
students. There was massive participation, as 110 students
all around Crete played in the tournament and enjoyed the
excellent facilities of Hapimag Hotel during the games. Although
the tournament lasted only one day, there was plenty of time
for young chess players to play a soccer match, tennis, ping
pong or relax in the swimming pool. As a result, everyone
had a memorable day in a beautiful chess atmosphere!
The 8th Public School of Chania made a great
appearance and won the first place among school's competition.
The winner team was consisted of: Vafidis P., Hnaras F., Maroulakis
G., Apostolakis St., Shoinaraki Desp., Maragoudakis N., Shoinarakis
Man., Matsama Prok., Koukourakis Gr., and Hamilakis P.Second
place achieved the Public School of Nea Kydonia, and third
place the 20th Public School of Chania.
SAX - ANEK LINES was the winner
among club's competition. The team was consisted of: Hnara
M.D., Papadogiannis Sev., Batakis K., Papadopoulos Arg., Agnanti
Dan., Agnantis Al., Psaradeli Bas., Hatzidakis N., Paterakis
Ir., and Tiniakos G. Rethimnon Chess Club took second place
and A.O. Kissamos the third place.
Municipality of Foinika mayor Mr Stelios Kleidis and young
chess players from Plakias village were rewarded for their
contribution by Rethimnon Chess Club.
