SAX - ΑΝΕΚ LINES won 2005 Cretan Friendship Cup!

The traditional Cretan Friendship Chess Cup is a reality again! After some years of inaction, the organisation took place in Iraklion,Crete, in December, marked with great success.This year organization was a real celebration for Cretan chess, with over 160 players and 20 different teams participating in the tournament. Special regards deserves to Mr. Stefanatos and Mr. Voulgaridis M., who where responsible for this excellent organisation.

The competition began and finished with great suspense, as the matches were judged under pressure of time, transforming tournament's classification in every round! After the final 5th round, four teams were ranked in the first place but SAX- ΑΝΕΚ LINES obtained the 1st one, due to significant point advantage! OAX took the second place and it seems that the team finds its strength again, after some years of decline. AO Kydon took the third place and SOH the fourth place.

The players who consisted the winner team SAX- ΑΝΕΚ LINES were: Tsarouhas Kostas, Katzourakis Pavlos, Gimnopoulos Kostas, Verikakis Manolis, Mathioulakis Fanis, Kazakos Manos, Tsarouha Marianthi, Hristodoulaki Tonia, and Liodakis Konstantinos.

Special distinction achieved Mathioulakis Fanis and Kazakos Manos who collected the most points in their boards (5th and 6th board respectively).
